With the end of the year fast approaching it's time to prioritize your reading list in order to reach your goals. Us avid readers always have books on our TBR (To Be Read) list, so how do you tackle your lists? With ambitious goals to finish, we recommend having a strategy... or you can borrow ours!
Narrow Down Your List
Pick the top 3-5 books you want to finish before the year ends. This will help you keep your goals manageable. This list should be based on 3 things...
What do you need right now? An empowering non-fiction from your favorite famous person? A John-Green/Nicholas Sparks -esque cry? A fantastical tale of love and adventure? Picking based on your current mood can help you plow through those books and cross some off your list.
If you're stuck, here are some of our picks!
Pop Culture/Social Media
Maybe your bookstagram followers are hyping up this one specific book. Maybe a TV show/movie based on a book is coming out. Or your favorite actress added a book to her book club and you have been dying to follow her recommendations. Maybe you stumbled on an article raving about a certain author. Either way, these things influence us and picking based on pop culture and social media will help you feel connected to the book-loving community.
Are you willing to commit to a long fable, or are you looking to pick up a short and sweet YA? Is a medium-length non-fiction more your style? How about a thriller? How long do you really have to finish the next few books? Picking based on length will help you feel accomplished when finishing yet another book or for being able to endure the long immersive story.
Our two suggestions for next year would be to join a reading challenge and a book club. These will help you focus on your goals and fully commit to your book reading lifestyle. Happy Reading!
