How far parents will go to protect their children?
A feature film based on The Dinner, a novel by Dutch author Herman Koch, is coming to theaters in May.
The Dinner, an international bestseller with more than a million copies sold, is a tongue-in-cheek page-turner that begs you to ask yourself what would you do if your sons are suspects in the brutal murder of a homeless woman?
The two fathers, brothers who loathe each other, meet at a fancy restaurant with their respective wives, to discuss over dinner the future of their sons.
"If police were hot on my son’s heels, and my brother was a famous politician about to be anointed prime minister, I probably wouldn’t choose a very public restaurant for this particular family discussion, no less one where four fancy courses would be elaborately, painstakingly served. But that’s part of the novel’s black humor", author Lisa Zeidner writes in the Washington Post.
